May 8, 1932 – March 18, 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Walter Gunville on March 18, 2017 at the Herb Bassett Home in Prince Albert, SK at the age of 84 years. He spent his life working in the lumber industry – over 35 years at Parkland Builders and Econo Lumber. He also enjoyed watching sports – the Blue Jays and Hockey Night in Canada – the Edmonton Oilers were his team. He was also a PA Raider fan and was a season ticket holder from day one in 1970. For the past 10 years, he was a resident of the Herb Bassett Home – Golden Hill. During his stay, he made many friends - especially Stanley who was like a brother to him. Walter is survived by his three children Sharon (Jim) Hamilton, Betty Gunville, Mervin (Sandra nee Struthers) Gunville; grandchildren Murray (Sheri) Gunville, Crystal (Stacey) Friesen, Blair Hamilton (Danielle Henson), Brad Hamilton (Krista McKay); great-grandchildren Kelsey and Hailey Gunville, Tanner Gunville, Justin and Christopher Friesen, Tynisha McKay, Liam Hamilton, Bo Hamilton and great grandchild number 9 due to be born in April, 2017; his brother Garry Gunville; as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Barb of 61 years in 2013; his parents George and Ann Gunville; his brother Wally Gunville; his sisters and brothers-in-law Bob (Dorothy) Andrews and Lois (John) Fiddler. The family would like to thank Walter’s caregivers at Golden Hill for their kindness and the wonderful care provided – you are all very special “angels”. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575- 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Celebrant Linda Holmevik. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens with lunch to follow at Nordale Hall. In lieu of other tributes memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 1738 Quebec Avenue, Unit 26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9 or to a Charity of Donor’s Choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306-922-4729).
