FITZGERALD, Raymond Steven- age 74, of Richmond Road, formerly of Comeau's Hill, N.S. passed away on March 13th, 2017. Born in Comeau’s Hill on August 23rd, 1942 he was the son of the late Gordon and Evélyne (Muise) Fitzgerald. Raymond was a scallop fisherman most of his life, once he moved to Richmond Road he worked at a local fishplant. He also enjoyed being at the wharf talking to the fishermen. Raymond had a very active social life with his common law wife Phyllis and they enjoyed going to dances and listening to music as well as travelling various places. He also enjoyed spending time taking care of their hobby farm at home. He is survived by his common law wife of 20 years Phyllis Pettipas and her daughter Kelly (Pettipas) Roberts (Port Maitland); son Steven Fitzgerald (Karen)(Yarmouth); adopted daughter Doris (Don) Fitzgerald-Cumby (Yarmouth); adopted son Bob (Michelle) Leblanc (Amirault's Hill); brother Thomas (Eliza) Fitzgerald (Quinan); step grandchildren, Courteney, Jessica, Paige, Emily, Abby and step great grandchildren Daniel and Cassie. Besides his parents he was predeceased by step-brothers Gilbert and Elmer both of Comeau’s Hill. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. There was no visitation or service at family request. A family only interment will take place at Comeau’s Hill Cemetery in the spring. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
