Peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Sunday, March 19, 2017 of Wendell MacMurdo Profitt, B.Sc.(F) of Charlottetown in his 95th year; veteran of WWII RCAF. Born in Margate PEI to parents, William D. and Hazel (MacMurdo) Profitt on April 26, 1922. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Allen) Profitt. Loving father of Judy Profitt (the late Ron Hughes) and Dr. Allen Profitt (Sue). Cherished grampie of Chelsea McBride (Derek) & Jordan Profitt (Leah Conrad) and adoring great-grampie of Grace. Dear brother of Georgie Simmons (Walter J.). Predeceased by his 3 yr. old brother David E. Profitt in 1929 and his brother Rowan A. Profitt in 2012. Lovingly remembered by special friend Helen MacPhail and former housekeeper Patricia Axworthy. As a Forest Engineer, he started the Provincial Forestry Nursery along with J. Frank Gaudet. Upon appointment as the first Director of Provincial Parks, he developed a network of beautiful parks and campgrounds across the Island for the enjoyment of all and was referred to as the Pioneer of Provincial Parks. Resting at MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel. Funeral Monday from Trinity United Church at 11 a.m. Interment later in Summerside Peoples Cemetery. If so desired, memorials to the Island Nature Trust, Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation or Trinity United Church, Charlottetown would be appreciated. Visiting hours Sunday from 3-5 p.m. The Royal Canadian Legion will hold a service of remembrance at the funeral home on Sunday at 2:45 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www.macleanfh.com
