John Alfred Comeau

Peacefully at his Halifax home on 23 March 2017, Mr. John Alfred Comeau passed away. A loving father and devoted husband, John was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Taylor (Snelgrove) Comeau. Born in Yarmouth on 6 December 1932 to Margaret (Comeau) Robichaud John is survived by his children, Nancy Comeau of Halifax and Brad(Debbie) Comeau, grandchildren Aleighsha Comeau and Courtney Comeau, all of Stirling O.N., and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Alex Comeau, Raymond Robichaud, Joseph Comeau and Jimmy Comeau, sister Gussie Derhak, brother-in-law Frederick Snelgrove. Prior to his 1992 retirement and relocation to Halifax, John started his Island life with the Royal Bank of Canada. After opening a Bank branch in St. John’s, Nfld he returned to the Island where he had many years of dedicated service to the Prince Edward Island government. He was a long-time member of the Kinsmen and volunteered many hours with Allied Youth and Park Royal United Church. John loved his very special Island friends. After retirement he continued to summer at the family Cumberland cottage enjoying the fun and friendship of his Island family. Visitation at J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax NS on Wednesday, 29 March 2017, at 1 p.m. followed by a service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Debbie Aitken officiating.
