It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts, that we must announce the passing of Edith (Edie) Lindsey Colp (Read). Edith passed away peacefully at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Friday, April 7, 2017.
Born on November 22, 1939 in Dorchester Cape, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Berma (Buck) and Alton Read.
Edie always put others before herself, always lending a helping hand and supporting many charities throughout the years. Edie enjoyed quilting, making crafts, and spending time with her family. She also loved flowers and being out in her gardens.
Edie will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years, Clarence “Gary” Colp; her son, Mike (Sue) Colp of Middleton, N.B., as well as by her daughter, Dianna Finley of Sackville, N.B.; three grandchildren, Allan Crandall and Colton and Heidi Colp, as well as by her great-granddaughter, Claire Crandall.
Edie was the last surviving member of the Read family, being pre-deceased by her brothers, Laurie, Charles, Lester, Alton “Junior” and Ainsley, as well as by her sisters, Nellie, Eileen, Margaret and Madeline.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (506) 364-8188. In keeping with Edie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. An evening of remembrance will be held for family and friends on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 7-9 pm at Campbell’s Funeral Home, Sackville. The burial will take place in the Dorchester Cape Cemetery, at a later date.
