Passed peacefully away on Wednesday, April 19th, 2017 at the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre, St. John's, Leslie Philip Ballard, age 67 years. Predeceased by his father Francis Jerome Ballard; and his sister Rosalind. Leaving to mourn mother Vera; brother Derek; sisters: Sharon, Margarite and Pamela (Rick); daughter Angela (Dwayne), grandchildren: Shelby, Corwin, Brennan and Gavin; son Kevin, grandchildren: Lily Maxine and Ava Leigh (mother Vanessa); nephews: Steve (Jo) and Fabian; niece Denise (Roy); as well as a large number of other relatives and friends. Les spent a lot of time enjoying the outdoors - growing vegetables, having campfires, hunting, trouting, and he especially enjoyed boating and being "out on the water." He worked as an electrician and was a 30+ year member of the IBEW (Local #105). Special thanks to the many doctors, nurses and staff throughout Eastern Health: Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Centre, Whitbourne Hospital, Carbonear Hospital, Health Science Centre, Palliative Care Unit at the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre and Home and Community Healthcare, including the homecare workers who've helped him in his final days. Thanks also to the people of Bellevue and surrounding area who provided their help and support. A sincere thank you to special friends Darrell and Sandra who were there for him throughout it all. Your dedication and kindness shall never be forgotten. As per Les' request, there will be no visitation or service, however there will be a short gathering for family and friends at Barrett's Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl, on Sunday, April 23, from 2-3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Leslie's memory may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation.
