Bertram (Bert) Crocker

Lieu de décès : St. John's, Terre-Neuve, Canada
Date de décès : 6 mai 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bertram Crocker (Bert), aged 85. He passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital surrounded by his loving family on May 6, 2017. Bert is predeceased by parents Lewis and Emma Crocker as well as siblings Jeanette, Phyllis, Sheila, Jessie, Reg and Bill. Bert was the loving husband of Rosemary Crocker (nee Doran). He leaves to mourn his children Reg, Wanda, Sue (Wayne), Steve (Lisa), and Tom (Lisa); grandchildren Shannon, Emily (Jared), Eva, Allison, Theo, Max and Jack; as well as great-grandchildren, Hunter and Leo. He will be missed by close in-laws, Helen (Ted-deceased), Jeannie (Mario), Billy, (Dana), Bernice (Gerard), Lorraine and Barbara, as well as lifelong friends Alice and Cyril Mallard.

Bert was a man of profound integrity whose wife and family were the centre of his life. A devoted husband and father, Bert encouraged confidence in his children through his kindness, sharp intellect, generosity and humour. He and Rosemary were celebrating 61 loving years of marriage.

Bert was a veteran of the Korean War who worked as a civil engineering technologist for most of his professional life. He also spent 10 years working as a real estate agent at ReMax, together with his wife Rosemary, before retiring in 1991. He was an excellent bowler. He enjoyed card games, challenging crossword puzzles, poetry, and drafting his exacting carpentry plans on graph paper. He was known for his amazing memory and sharp mind. If you wanted to know anything at all you could phone Bert and ask him. And he absolutely loved planning a good road trip. He was loved by all who knew him and will be forever missed by his family.

We would like to thank Dr. Kennedy, his wife and nurse Elizabeth Kennedy, as well as Drs. Azir and Sathya. We also extend our gratitude to the medical team and support staff at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, sixth floor east, especially the nurses, who were unfailingly kind, compassionate and dedicated.

At Bert's request, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Corpus Christi Parish food bank, or a charity of your choice. Visitation to take place at Caul's Funeral Home on Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Caul's Chapel. Inurnment to follow in the Field of Honour at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
