Passed peacefully away on May 11, 2017 at home in her husband's arms and surrounded by her loving family, Joanne Fifield (Bursey) aged 63. Leaving to mourn their tragic loss her beloved husband of 42 years and her best friend, David Fifield; her only daughter Melissa (Christopher Elliott); her mother and friend Shirley Bursey; her sisters Carolyn Butler (Gary), Sherry Bursey (Frank O' Leary), Doris Fifield; brothers Paul Bursey, Barry Bursey (Norma) and brothers-in-law Frank Fifield (Gloria), Ray Fifield (Mary). Also mourning her loss are her nieces and nephews, Adam and Matthew Butler, Timothy and Amy Lewis, Kaetlen, Robyn, Elizabeth and Holly Bursey, and Matthew, Mark, Paul and Michael Fifield as well as her great-nieces and nephews. They are all devastated to lose their very favourite Aunt Joanne. Predeceased by her father Murley Bursey, and her in-laws Dora and Alfred Fifield. Joanne leaves behind a very large circle of family and friends who are very sad to lose her.

A special thank you to the nurses and doctors from the Oncology Unit at the Health Sciences Complex who did everything they could to make her weeks with them as comfortable and as painless as possible. The family would also like to thank the nurses at Eastern Health Community Services, Topsail Rd. Thank you as well to the students and Staff at Academy Canada for their support at this difficult time.

Dave would especially like to thank her Mom, his sister Doris, and their daughter Melissa, who spent many hours with Joanne while she was in the hospital, and his brother-in-law Paul Bursey who provided end of life care for her. Her family would like to truly thank her husband Dave who cared for Joanne almost every minute, both day and night in hospital and at home, and gave her all of his love and support to the very end. A special thank you is extended to her family and friends who helped in so many ways with food, flowers and moral support during this very sad time. It was so very much appreciated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to The Autism Society.

Visitation will be at Barrett's Funeral Home, Commonwealth Ave., Mount Pearl, Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 7-9 pm and Sunday, May 14, 2017, 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service to be held at St. James United Church, Elizabeth Ave., Monday, May 15, 2017 at 2 pm.
