The death occurred at his home in Wellington on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, of Amand Gallant, dear husband of Marie Anne Gallant, formerly of St. Chrysostome at the age of 86 years. He is the son of the late Cyrus and Albina (nee Arsenault) Gallant. Besides his wife, he is survived by sons and daughters: Eva (John) Muirhead of Egmont Bay, Clarence (Nicole) of Abram-Village, Gerard (Lucie) of St. Chrysostome, Nora (Edward) Arsenault of Egmont Bay, Maria (Floyd) O'Brien of St. Chrysostome, Linda (Yvon) Derasp of Mont Carmel, a foster child, Elmer (Sandy) Gallant of Summerside, also by brothers and sisters: Andre (Cathy) Gallant of Winnipeg, Agnes (Gussie) Gallant of Summerside, Zella Allen of Summerside, Louise (Ron) Kolpean of Ontario and Bertha Deveaux of Ontario, 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and also brothers-and sisters-in-law: Julie Anne and Arsene Arsenault, Antonin and Stella Gallant, Sophie and Sylvain Richard, Therese and Camille Bonnenfant, Martin Gallant, Peter Gallant and Ruth, Joseph and Alice Gallant, Andre Gallant, Augustin and Diane Gallant, Clair Gallant, Rose Gallant, Della and Jerry and also Aunt Irene Arsenault. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Thelma, grandson, Shane, brothers, Fidele, Albin, Albert, Edward, and sisters, Eveline and Aline, brothers-in-law, Adrien and Arthur, Herman and Bill and sisters-in-law, Rosie and Angelina. He was a veteran of the Second World War and a life member of the Wellington Canadian Legion. Resting at Evangeline Funeral Home until Friday, then to St. Phillipe and St. Jacques Church, Egmont Bay for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Visitation shall be received on Thursday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Refrain from wearing perfume due to severe allergies. There will be a remembrance service at the funeral home at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Memorial donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or Le Chez Nous would be greatly appreciated. Interment in the church cemetery.
