1920-2010 - Len David Hitchcock of Arthurette passed away peacefully at the Hotel Dieu of St. Joseph Hospital, Perth-Andover, NB on May 14, 2010. Len was born in Lake Edward, NB on April 16, 1920, loving husband of the late Mattie M. Hitchcock of 67 years. He was the son of the late Fred Hitchcock and Hattie (Rivers) Hitchcock. Len was the youngest of eleven children and the last to pass away. Len was well known in Victoria and Carleton County. He was a retired auto mechanic, specializing in front end work. He served with the Canadian Army Service Corps in WWII. Len was in Holland May 8th, 1945 on the VE signing. Len is survived by his son Dale Hitchcock (Dawna) of Red Rapids; three granddaughters Kelly Briggs (Alan) of North View, NB, Kim Evans (Darren) of Riverview, NB, Toby Antworth (Todd) of Florenceville-Bristol, NB; and seven great grandchildren. Len was an ardent hunter and fisherman and many tales were told at the camp at Maggie's Falls. He was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Len was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 85 of Arthurette. Resting at Brunswick Funeral Home with visitation Saturday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at 2:30 pm from Brunswick Funeral Home. Rev. Harold Sparkes officiating. Interment will be in Larlee Creek Cemetery. For those who wish, donations to the Hotel Dieu Hospital Foundation or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. There will be a Legion Memorial Service held at the funeral home on Saturday evening at 7:30 pm. www.brunswickfuneralhome.ca
