ELLIOTT-DOSHEN
Peacefully at home on Thursday, May 13, 2010, after a brief, intense battle with cancer. Linda Elliot-Doshen, beloved wife of Larry Doshen. Loving mother of Samantha (Victor Fox) and Nanette (Daryl Engelman). Proud and devoted grandmother of Brendan, Matthew and Tessa. Predeceased by her parents Sinclair and Joy (Cox) Elliott, and her brother Davey. Survived by her sisters Carol (Rick Stevens) and Cheryl (Barry McIntyre), and brother Alan. Educator, writer and thinker, students from Nova Scotia to Saskatchewan, particularly those in special education, benefited from Linda's skill and dedication. Ardent feminist, she was a purposeful advocate for the full participation of women in all aspects of modern life. In retirement Linda was an avid gardener, with blossoms spilling onto Dorset Drive from April to October, and a Mah Jong enthusiast, introducing the activity to groups in Ottawa (the Dorset Divas) and Florida. Funeral services will be held in the Sacred Space at Beechwood Cemetery on Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at 11 a.m. with interment to follow. The family wish to extend our deepest gratitude to Linda's physician, Dr. Mary Comerton, for her extraordinary personal attention and care, and to the doctors and staff of The Ottawa Hospital General Campus. A special thank you to the nurses and support workers of At-Home Hospice, We-Care Home Health Services, and Bayshore Home Health for their compassionate care which made it possible for Linda to spend her last days at home with her family, overlooking her gardens in spring bloom. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
