DAVIES Harold (Bill) Davies, aged 83 years, resident of North Battleford, SK, passed away Monday, February 16, 2009 at The Battlefords District Care Centre, Battleford, SK. A “Celebration of Life Gathering” for family and friends will be held on Monday, June 22, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in Sloan Auditorium, Branch 70, Royal Canadian Legion (1352 – 100 St., North Battleford, SK). He is survived by two sons, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Reginald Davies (Alice) and Edward Davies, both of Winnipeg, MB; granddaughter, Michelle (Dave) Taylor: great-granddaughters: Xavier & Zandra, and granddaughter, Christine Davies; his brother, Phil Davies. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife Grace and by one brother, James. Bill was born December 17, 1925 in Moose Jaw, SK. His formal education was received in Moose Jaw and by Correspondence Courses in Psychology through the University of Saskatchewan. Bill and Grace Robson were married while living in Moose Jaw, SK. He enlisted in The Royal Canadian Air Force attaining rank of Second Lieutenant. While in Moose Jaw, he joined the Police Force and following this career, joined the Unemployment Insurance Commission, working his way to position as Manager at Edmonton, The Pas, Dauphin and North Battleford. In his leisure time, he actively participated in curling and golf and also enjoyed travels to the Yukon and throughout the Rockies in his truck camper. He was a Member of The Royal Canadian Legion, serving on the Executive at The Pas, MB (1962-1963) and the Executive at North Battleford (1985-1992) where he received his Life Membership on Nov. 23, 1993. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Poppy Fund, Branch 70, Royal Canadian Legion, Box 777, North Battleford, SK S9A 2Y9. Interment of cremated remains will take place at the Veterans Section – Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, North Battleford, SK. Arrangements are entrusted to Battlefords Funeral Service (446-4200)
