Passed in: Markham, Ontario, Canada
Passed on: October 4th, 2010

Dr. Ambrose John (Jack) Denne was in his 96th year when he passed away peacefully on October 4, 2010, at Amica Swan Lake in Markham, Ontario.
He was born in Toronto at his home in the Beach at 19 Cedar Avenue. Jack was predeceased by his dear wife of 68 years, Dr. Dody (Prowse), and his sister Kathleen Taylor. He was the loving and respected father of his daughter, Gaye Hemphill Murray (Ron), and his son, Tom Den (Maureen). He always enjoyed his time with his grandchildren Trish Baird (John), Donald and Diane Den, great-grandsons Jaden and Jaxon Baird, and his many nieces and nephews.
Jack spent his pre-university years as a student and tutor at Pickering College in Newmarket, Ontario. He graduated as a medical doctor from the University of Toronto in 1941 and from 1942-1946, he was a Medical Officer with The Royal Canadian Air Force. He retired from his practice of medicine in 1977. His Occupational Health Practice with partners, Dr Frank Griffen and Dr. George Nicholls, included companies such as Xerox, CIBC, MacLeans, Texaco, Rolph-Clark-Stone, INCO, Lever Brothers, The Clarke Institute and George Brown College.
Jack's retirement hobby of lapidary and faceting gave him hours of pleasure. He created beautiful pieces of jewellery that are treasured by family and friends. He led a very active life and enjoyed skiing, curling, bicycling, scuba diving, golf, sailing and snooker. We will miss his stories and jokes and wonderful sense of humour. He and Dody enjoyed their years together in Toronto, Muskoka, Beaverton, Siesta Key in Florida and Markham.
Special thanks to Amica Swan Lake staff and Dr. Jeff Weissberger for their wonderful care and patience over the past few months.
Friends may join in a celebration of Jack's life at Amica Swan Lake, 6360 16th Avenue, Markham, Ontario, on Thursday, October 14, 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.
