It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Hugh Forsyth, 75, of Lingan, on Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at the New Waterford Hospital.
Born in New Waterford, he was a son of the late Adam and Edith (MacLean) Forsyth.
Hugh was a foreman at the Heavy Water Plant for several years until it's closure. He then went on to become a millwright and eventually taught this trade at the AVTC in Sydney. Hugh enjoyed gardening and playing tarabish at the Army, Navy Airforce and the Royal Canadian Legion in New Waterford.
Surviving are daughters, Amber (Dan) MacGillivary, Brantford, Ont., Bernadette Forsyth, Oakville, Ont.; brothers, Adam (Theresa), Beachmount, Donald (Jane), Olaf (Marie), both of New Waterford; sister, Brenda (Gary) Wilkinson, Reserve Mines; three grandchildren, Michael and Kyle MacGillivary, Brandon O'Leary.
Besides his parents, Hugh was predeceased by his wife, Virginia (Cathcart), brother, Byron, grandson, Darryl.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Oct. 28 at 11 a.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith St., New Waterford with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Army, Navy, Airforce, Unit 217, Wilson Avenue, New Waterford.
