It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a wonderful wife, mother grandmother, sister and friend. Agnes MacGillivray of Sydney Road, Reserve Mines, passed away Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in New Waterford, Agnes was the daughter of the late Rannie J. and Mary (MacKinnon) MacDonald.
She was a member of St. Joseph's parish, the Altar Society, CWL and Twilight Club. Agnes was a graduate of St. Martha's Hospital School of Nursing, Antigonish.
Family was always the central focus of mother's life. She always opened her heart and home to all and enjoyed baking and cooking for family, especially her grandchildren.
Agnes is survived by her loving and devoted children, John (Evelyn), Calgary, Ottawa, Colleen McNamara, Reserve Mines, Ronald (Tania), Ottawa, Elmer (Rae), Erin, Ontario; and her precious grandchildren, Catherine, Julia and Johnny, Calgary, Brittany McNamara, Reserve Mines, Bridget and Cailtin, Erin, Ont., Bruce, Kieran and Fiona, Ottawa. Also surviving is one brother, Allan, Bellville, Ont.
Besides her parents, Agnes was predeceased by her loving husband, John (1976) brothers, Ronald, Bernard and Fr. John Hugh and sisters, Winnie Williams, Ottawa, Josephine Roy, London, Martina Dinaut, North Sydney.
In honoring Agnes' wishes, there will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at St. Joseph's Church, Reserve Mines, with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Donations in Agnes' memory may be made to St. Joseph's Cemetery or a charity of one's choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
