GOODWIN, Gilbert Edgar – 83, of Nakile Home for Special Care, formerly of Lower Argyle, passed away April 1, 2011 at Nakile. Born in Pubnico on December 18, 1927, he was a son of the late M. Ross Goodwin and Mable (Spinney) Goodwin. He was a mechanic for over 50 years and had taken over the family business after his father’s passing. He was a postmaster in Pubnico for 25 years. He loved spending his time fishing, hunting, and camping in his R.V. He is survived by daughter, Muriel D’Entremont (Sheldon), Lower Argyle; sons, Sheldon Donaldson (Dawn), Lower Argyle; Alan Donaldson (Susan), Saulnierville; six grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Sadie M. Goodwin, and a baby brother who died in infancy. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Sunday, April 3 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral was held Monday, April 4 at 3 p.m. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell and Rev. Richard Fowler officiated. Interment followed in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Family flowers only, please. Memorial donations may be made to Nakile Home for Special Care.
