It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Norma Jean (Carmichael) MacLeod, 79. Norma passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Alderwood Rest Home in Baddeck, Cape Breton, NS.
Born on April 13, 1938, Norma was the daughter of the late Donald Hector Carmichael and Harriet Elizabeth (Clothier) Carmichael.
Norma, was a homemaker and along with Husband Henry, raised their children in North Sydney. She was a member of St. Matthew Wesley United Church.
Norma is survived by her daughter, Katherine Mary (Kathy); brother, Jack Carmichael (wife Erma) and sisters, Mary MacDonald and Katherine (Kay) Carmichael. Also Norma is survived by grandchildren, Andrew, Darrian and Danielle and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Norma was predeceased by her husband, Henry; her son, Darryl; step-father, Archibald Daniel Carmichael and brother, Chesley Skeard.
Cremation has taken place.Visitation will be held at Greenwood United Church in Baddeck, NS on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 1-3 p.m. Memorial service to follow with Rev. Allison Etter officiating. Burial to take place at the Highland Cemetery on Plaister Mines Road.
Donations can be made in his memory to the Cancer Society or to Alderwood Rest Home in Baddeck.
Services will be under the direction of the MacAskill Funeral Home.
