William Francis "Sonny" Pitchuck
William Francis “Sonny” Pitchuck passed from this life on June 10, 2017, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Bill was predeceased by his parents; William F. Pitchuck Sr. and Stella Mischiek; brothers, Stanley and Michael (Greta), sisters, Rose (Gerald) Burke, Theresa (Ron) Johnson, Catherine Wrathall and Blair Boutilier all of Sydney. He was also predeceased by grandson, Joshua Pitchuck of Sarnia, Ontario. Cremation has taken place; interment at a later date in Sarnia, Ontario.
Bill was born December 5, 1937, in Glace Bay; He spent the first 15 years of life with his maternal grandmother, Mary Catherine Mischiek. At the age 18 he moved to London, Ontario, where he met and married his first wife, Barbara Yorston, in 1957. Around 1972 Bill became a real-estate broker and was quite successful at this occupation. Carpentry, writing, recording and playing country music, were his passions. Bill is survived by his wife of 17 years, Carrie Keen; sons, Rickey (Diane), Daniel (Nancy) and Paul; daughters, Peggy (Peter) Bowers, Diana (Chris) Paton, of Ontario; brothers, Joseph (Liz), Raymond (Ann), Paul, Steven and Richard (Yvonne); sisters, Delores Muise and Patricia (Duncan) Layes, all of Sydney. Bill is also survived by 7 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
