CROWELL, Elsie Lillian- age 97, of Nakile Home for Special Care passed away peacefully on July 13, 2017. Born in Roberts Island, Yarmouth Co., on August 17, 1919 she was a daughter to the late Victor W. and Iola G. (Gray) Roberts. Elsie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother who loved her family dearly. She was a devoted member to the Argyle Baptist Church and member of the Baptist Missionary Society as well as a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary. During her working career she worked as a PCW for 13 years at Tidal View Manor and looked after raising her family. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Morton (Carl Surette), Lower Eel Brook; Sandra Butler, Yarmouth; Kathleen MacDonald, Argyle Head; Earlene Pashneak, Cambridge ON; sister, Alta Harding, Yarmouth; daughter-in-law, Patricia Crowell, Ontario; 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and 1 step grandchild. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Bernard Crowell; son, Martin Crowell; sisters, Ruby Whitman and Dorothy Vananburg; brother, Burton Roberts; as well as a step grandchild. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Monday July 17, 2017 from 7-9 P.M. in Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service was held Tuesday July 18, 2017 at 2 P.M. from Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel, Rev Raymond Pitcher and Pastor Mitchell DeWare officiated. Interment followed in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Glaucoma Research Society of Canada.
