REGINA, Sask/ New Glasgow – Jenny Leigh McKay (Campbell), 33, Regina, Sask., It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Jenny Leigh McKay (Campbell) announce her sudden passing on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at her home in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Born in Truro, she was a daughter of Rev. L. Douglas and Glenda Campbell (Weatherby), Seafoam. Jenny attended A. G. Baillie and Frank H. MacDonald Schools, graduated from East Pictou High School in 2002, and Holland College with a degree in journalism in 2004. Jenny worked hard to achieve her insurance brokers license and was embarking on a new career path. She had many hopes for the future, including their plans to move to Nova Scotia.
Tragedy is not the way to remember Jenny. We remember her earthy voice, great big laugh, her beautiful smile, her huge heart, zest for life and her melancholy spirit. Jenny was gifted and she enjoyed writing stories and poetry, growing a garden, singing and playing guitar, painting and sketching, camping, working out at the gym, doing yoga, playing softball, and was a fabulous cook. Jenny had a writer’s mind and enjoyed reading and broadening her understanding of the world and her place in it. She saw life as ultimately spiritual and had a seeker’s heart.
Surviving besides her parents are sister, Allison, Iqaluit, Nunavut; brother Ben, Calgary, Alberta; paternal grandmother, Marguerite Campbell, New Glasgow, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, and cousins. Jenny is also survived by her husband, Jay; step daughters, Alyssa, Brianne; mother in law, Ann McKay; her extended family in Regina;
She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Howard and Gladys Weatherby; paternal grandfather, Lloyd Campbell.
The family will receive visitors Thursday, September 14, from 6 - 8 p.m. in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. The family will also receive visitors Friday, September 15, from 12 – 1 p.m. in Faith Baptist Church, Great Village until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. with Pastor Steve Adams officiating. Interment will be in Elgin Cemetery, Hopewell.
Donations in Jenny’s memory may be made to a special education fund for her step daughters, Alyssa and Brianne, c/o Doug and Glenda Campbell, (R.R. # 4 River John, N.S.
