KEDDY, Francis Eugene – age 69, of Waterville, Kings Co., passed away suddenly on Friday, September 15, 2017, at home. Born in Berwick, he was a son of the late Lawrence R. and Lillian D. (O’Leary) Keddy. Francis was a hard worker, and known as a jack of all trades. He began his working career at age 17 starting with Standard Paving, which was then Lafarge that finally became Dexters Construction. During 49 years of employment Francis was a flagman, asphalt raker and finally a dump truck operator. He was an avid gardener and lover of anything John Deere. Francis was a gentle giant, who appeared to have a tough exterior but who was a good man and had a heart of gold. He had many friends and loved his family, especially time spent with the grandchildren. Surviving are his wife the former Mary P. Oickle; daughters, Virginia Keddy (Kelley-Anne Hurley), Milton; Nadine (Jamie) Parker, Harmony; son, Steven Keddy (Jackie Crowell), Waterville; grandchildren, Jessica, Samantha, Dylan and Ethan; sisters, Marguerite (Elroy) Mills, Cambridge; Sylvia “Pete” Keddy (David Hampsey), South Berwick; Irma (Stephen) Lutz, Waterville; brothers, Willis “Bill” (Pauline) Keddy, Halls Harbour; Allister (Linda) Keddy, Lawrence (Brenda) Keddy, both of Black Rock; Garnet Keddy (Heather Bent), Burlington; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Olive Crouse and Shirley Card; brother, Gerald Keddy. In keeping with Francis’s wishes there was no visitation. A graveside service took place at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 22, in Waterville Cemetery. Pastor Christina Bigelow officiated, and a reception followed. Family flowers only, donations in Francis name may be made to Diabetes Canada, Waterville & District Volunteer Fire Department or to QEII Foundation, Halifax.
