Passed peacefully away at Luxury Estates Residence, Carbonear on Thursday April 21, 2011, Gladys Mae (Langer) Rockwood of Hearts Content, aged 80 years. We were fortunate enough to have celebrated mom’s 80th birthday with her last month which she thoroughly enjoyed. Mom was born in Hearts Content on March 13, 1931 to Albert and Lydia (Coombs) Langer. She was the 7th of 8 children. Predeceased by her husband Hayward in 1994, and by her brother Victor and sisters Ethel, Minnie, Elizabeth, Beatrice and Jean. She is survived by her 4 daughters: Alice (Andy) Mills, England, Phyllis (Willis) Stevens, Nova Scotia, Joan Rockwood, Ottawa, Hazel (Bruce) Pynn, Carbonear; and, by six grandchildren: Christopher and Catherine Mills, Jonathan and Jennifer Stevens, Joshua and Jessica Pynn; and, one great-grandchild Frida Mills. Also leaving to mourn, her eldest sister Ann Piercey; sister-in-law Marina Langer and brother-in-law Edgar Pitcher, as well as, many nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends.We would like to thank the staff of Luxury Estates where mom has lived for the past year for their wonderful care and attention. Visitation will take place from 2PM to 4PM and 7PM to 9PM on Saturday April 23rd and Sunday April 24th at Green’s Funeral Parlour, Winterton. Funeral service will be held Monday, April 25th at 2PM at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Hearts Content.
