William ‘Bill’ Francis MacKinnon

William ‘Bill’ Francis MacKinnon, 88, of Elmsdale and formerly of Sydney, NS passed away on January 29, 2018 at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late James and Mary (Chant) MacKinnon.
Bill was a former employee of Devco, retiring in 1987. He was active for many years with both the Sydney Minor Hockey and Baseball Associations. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Golden “K” in Sydney, and Christ Church in Sydney.
He is survived by daughter, Susan (Roy) O’Callaghan, Elmsdale; son, Mark (Catherine Burchell), Kanata, ON, and his granddaughters, who he was so proud of, Alicia, Julia and Sarah, as well as a brother, Walter (Judy), ON.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Mary (Garland); son, Paul at birth; sisters, Murdena Powell, Florence Gates and Margaret Burns, and brothers, Jim and Victor.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 2 in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, Rev. Valerie Rhymes officiating. Live-stream of the service will begin at 10:55 a.m. http://distantlink.com/ettingers.html.
