Thecla Ann Boyd (MacNeil), age 73, of Lower Sackville, passed away peacefully May 25, 2018, after a long battle with cancer surrounded by her family who love her beyond measure at the VGH. Born in Glace Bay she was the daughter of the late, Francis & Mary Thecla (Wilson) MacNeil. She was a graduate of St. Elizabeth Hospital of nursing in 1965. A longtime member of St. John Vianney RC Church and a minister of the Eucharist. Thecla was proud to have been a nurse for 37 years predominantly at Scotia Nursing Home, Beaver Bank. Thecla took great joy in being a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Those who loved her will remember her laugh as her four boys told funny stories usually at her expense. She is survived by her loving husband, Lawrence of 50 years. Sons, Derrick (Tamara) of Porter’s Lake, Brendon (Ann) of Lower Sackville, Mark of Halifax, and Ryan (Leigh-Ann) of Lower Sackville. Grand-daughters, Gillian, Katie, Josie and Kaylee. Sisters, Maurina MacNeil (Hugh MacDonald) of Antigonish, Teresa Jarkasy (Omar) of Kamloops, BC. Brother Gerard MacNeil Kelowna, BC. Predeceased by her brother, Ray MacNeil. Visitations take place Tuesday 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., May 29, 2018, at Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. John Vianney RC Church. Burial in Fernwood Cemetery, Middle Sackville. Reception to follow in the church hall.
