DOUCETTE, Delbert Joseph – age 76, Wedgeport, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 17, 2018 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born May 3, 1942 in Quinan, he was a son of the late Avite and Mary (Frotten) Doucette. Delbert worked as a scallop fisherman and enjoyed hunting and spending time with the dogs he loved, his own Zannah and his “grand-dog” Marley. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Cottreau, as well as by his children, Adam Cottreau, Wedgeport and Anita Cottreau (Alana Jacquard), all of Wedgeport; Clayton (Marilyn) Doucette, Yarmouth; Wesley (Joan) Doucette, Pleasant Lake; Susan Landers (Dale Thompson), Pembroke; Debbie Doucette (Joe LeBlanc), Wedgeport; Doreen (Rick) Saulnier, Darlings Lake; ten grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren, five step-great grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Emily Thombs, Hamilton, ON; Evelyn Muise, Quinan; Lorraine Vacon, Mayflower; Marie (Richard) Ellis, Dartmouth; Vivian (Danny) Landry, Amirault’s Hill; Elizabeth (Kenneth) Jacquard, North Belleville and a brother, Flavien (Dorothy) Doucette, North Belleville. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Freddie Doucette and a great granddaughter. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth and there was no visitation. A funeral Mass was held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, July 23 from Saint Agnes Church, Quinan, Father Albeni d’Entremont officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. Donations in memory of Delbert may be made to the Lung Association of Canada or to the Nova Scotia Heart & Stroke Foundation.
