Sara Alberta Grace ‘Alberta’ Ley

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sara Alberta Ley, aged 79, at the North Sydney General Hospital. Alberta was a daughter of the late Alberta and Grace Bate of Big Lorraine, NS.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her love reached all that knew her, and she will be deeply missed by her seven children, Maxine, Crystal, Cindy, Melinda, Charles (Glenda) and Kathryn, and all fifteen grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren, as well as her brother, Bill (Mary).
Alberta was predeceased by her first husband, Max Kennedy; her second husband, Charles Ley; her sister, Kay, as well as sons-in-law, Purcell and William, and beloved son, Albert.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the NSG Hospital, as well as the Palliative Care staff for their compassionate care.
Visitation for Alberta will take place Wednesday, January 23 from 12-2 p.m. at S.W. Chant and Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. A celebration of her life will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant to officiate. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that all donations be made to Palliative Care.
