Celina Rose (Blanchard) Bond

Born: April 15th, 1929

Passed on: January 28th, 2019

Celina Rose (Blanchard) Bond, aged 89, passed away peacefully at the Northside General Hospital on Monday, January 28, 2019 with her loving family at her side.
Born in Belle Cote, April 15, 1929, Celina was the daughter of the late Joseph and Clothilde (Boudreau) Blanchard.
Celina grew up in Belle Cote and later moved to Sydney to start her family with Dave. She worked as a school yard supervisor for several years at Lakevale School. Summers were spent at their cabin in Belle Cote where they enjoyed catching up with family and friends over a game of cards, a cup of tea and a piece of pie! She often made time to sit with her needles and knit up a few pairs of slippers.
Celina had a way of getting into your heart as soon as you met her – her quick wit, personality and friendly disposition won the hearts of many. She made friends everywhere she went. She had a zest for life and loved to lend a hand to any job from housework chores to piling wood or using her whipper snipper.
Celina is survived by her loving children, Anita, Sydney, Charlie (Marlene), Sydney, Tom (Carrie), Millville, Margie Campbell (Blaine), Coxheath. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Brad (Benita), David (Dakota), Karla, Steven (Malory), Meagan and Jennifer as well as six great-grandchildren, Cameron, Elena, Colin, Echo, Oaklee and Axle. She is also survived by one sister, Lucy Chaisson, New Waterford and several nieces and nephews who were very dear to her.
Celina was predeceased by her husband, Dave Bond; daughter, Mary Margaret; sisters, Judith, Florence, Zabeth, Beatrice and Margaret; and her brothers, Henry, Eddie, Josie, Charles and a brother in infancy.
Celina became a resident of the Northside Community Guest Home in April of 2018 where she quickly made many new friendships.
The family would like to thank the staff, the residents and their families for always making Celina feel welcome and so very special. The family would also like to thank the staff at the Northside General Hospital for the exceptional care given to her the last couple of weeks.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation for Celina will take place at Chant’s Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, on Thursday, January 31 from 7 – 9 p.m. with a Celebration of Life to take place on Friday, February 1st at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant to officiate.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be given to the Northside Community Guest

Ma, you are free to drive again – keep it between the lines!
