Age 48 of Kingston, NS, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in St. John’s, NL, he was a son of Tom and Edna (Pye) Ryan, Seal Cove CBS, NL. Dean was an Aviation Technician with the Royal Canadian Air Force having served 21 years. Prior to joining the regular forces, he served with the Royal Canadian Naval Reserves for 10 years. Dean was very committed to his career and well respected by his peers. He dedicated a good portion of his career to Search and Rescue in Canada. As well as his parents, he is survived by his loving wife Tara (Stevens), Kingston; son Joshua (Kipp) Sappier, Fredericton, NB; daughter Jessica Ryan (Matt Levesque), Kingston; sister Anita Ryan, Edmonton; brother Byron Ryan (Bettina Cassell), Fort Saskatchewan, AB; niece Megan Ryan, Dartmouth; father and mother-in-law Boyd and Betty Stevens, Greenwood and brother-in-law Doug (MacKenzie) Stevens, Calgary. In keeping with Dean’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 9, 2019 in St. Mark’s Chapel, 14 Wing Greenwood with Padre Maya Bevan officiating. A reception will follow the service in the Annapolis Mess. Donations in memory may be made to the ALS Society of Canada.
