The family of Joanna Munn Tonet sadly announce her passing in Calgary, Alberta, on March 3, 2019.
Joanna “Jo” was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, February 21, 1939. After obtaining her nursing degree at Grace Maternity Hospital in Halifax, she worked in Obstetrics in Halifax and then Sydney where she married and raised her three daughters of whom she was extremely proud. In those years she was always happiest when she had a house full of children and hosting many friends and tennis pals in the rec room and swimming pool on Cromarty St.
Joanna is survived by her three daughters, Natalie (Sergei), Alison (Tony), and Cynthia; sister and brother-in-law, Gwen and Gary Bruce; her beloved grandchildren whom she adored, Ben, Alison, Marcus and Brandon; along with her many loving nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father, Rev. Milton Munn; her mother, Irene Munn and her sister, Judith Munn Thorne.
While Jo left Sydney in the nineties, living in Sussex, Halifax, Fredericton, and Calgary, her heart never left her beloved Cape Breton. May her spirit rest forever there in peace and joy.
