Passed on: March 25th, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Janet Margaret MacLeod, age 64, on Monday, March 25, 2019 at the Northside General Hospital, North Sydney, after a brief illness.
Born in North Sydney, February 7, 1955, Janet was the daughter of the late Alexander and Genevieve (Jessome) MacLeod of Georges River. She grew up on the family farm, the second-youngest of nine children. Janet left Cape Breton to pursue higher education and was a graduate of both the University of Waterloo and Texas Southern University. She pursued a career as a pharmacist for almost 30 years in New England, Virginia, and Montana, helping countless patients improve their lives. She had a big heart and could be counted on to be generous with her expertise and support. Her quick wit endeared her to many friends and family.
Janet is survived and sadly missed by her brothers, Alexander (Kathy), Donald (Peggy) and Wallace; sisters, Anne, Joan, Elizabeth (David) Johnston and Mary (George) Dorrington; several nieces and nephews, numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Special thanks to nephews Judd, Hayes and Grant and their families for their support during Janet’s hospital stay.
In addition to her parents, Janet was predeceased by her sister, Kathryn (Wilbert) Johnston.
No visitation by request, cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
