Hailey Karah MACDONALD

Hailey Karah MACDONALD

Age 19, of Dartmouth -Hailey passed away on April 21, 2019 at home. She had a lot of challenges in her life but persevered to overcome her many obstacles. Even though we were told she would never walk or talk, with her determination, she overcame and lived life to the fullest.
She brought joy to everyone she met, and as her mother often stated, she sucked you into her vortex of love. She enjoyed hanging out with her bowling buddies on Wednesdays and her dance friends on Friday evening at Halifax Dance. She also partook in swimming, challenger baseball and horseback riding over the years. Some of her other favourite things included taking the bus, camping, visiting Theodore Tugboat, going to MMM, seeing mascots, attending Halifax Hurricane games, and going to Camp Rotary. She experienced some great trips to Florida, Niagara Falls and Chicago. Her Chicago trip was highlighted by attending a Blackhawks game, a team she rooted for, just like her Dad. One of her favourite places to go was what she called work (school). She enjoyed her years at Portland Estates Elementary, Ellenvale Jr. High and Prince Andrew High School. Hailey is survived by her parents Kevin and Tara (McBurney) MacDonald, Dartmouth; grandparents, Bill and Carilyn McBurney of Fall River, Connie MacDonald of Truro, Marilyn Purdy of Bedford; great-grandmother Jean Burry of NL; aunts, Holly McBurney “Auntie Jo”, Stacey (Sean) Norwich, and Kristen Turner (Scott); uncle Mark McBurney (Catherine); cousins, Seven, Liera, Parker, Grayson, and Max. She was predeceased by her grandfather Dwight MacDonald. She will also be deeply missed by her respite worker and best friend Kayla Julian who loved her lots and took her everywhere. They sang in the car every day; and enjoyed going to car washes and hockey games together. Her fur buddy Cali Oreo “Woof, Woof”, will also miss her deeply. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Thursday April 25th in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. The Celebration of Life Service will take place at 2pm on Friday April 26th in the funeral home chapel. Please wear something colourful; purple was her favourite. In lieu of flowers, donations directed by EMT to haileymacd99@gmail.com for the Prince Andrew High School Learning Centre would be greatly appreciated by her family. Balloons are welcome. Special thanks to her EPA’s and Learning Centre Staff over the years and in particular the Prince Andrew High Learning Centre. Also special thanks to her wonderful doctor Soha Rizk. Online condolences may be made to the Dartmouth Chapel atwww.atlanticfuneralhomes.com
