John Garfield Boutilier

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, John Garfield Boutilier (Bootsie), 76, on Mary 4, 2019 at home with his family by his side after a brief battle with cancer.
Born March 23, 1943 to the late Gordon and Francis (Clements) Boutilier, John worked for Broughton Mines until 1963, Phelps Glass in Ontario until 1972 and finally with national Sea Fisheries until his retirement. He enjoyed bowling, darts and a good game of cards. Drives with the boys, a drink of wine, “Sandra” and Canadian. John was a True Toronto Maple Leafs Fan.
He is survived by the love of his life, Stella (Peach) Boutilier; his six beautiful daughters, Stella C. (Fred) Lynk, Pearl (Austin) Warren, Anita (Bobby) Cooke, Mary, Darby (Trent) Sampson, Jo-Ann (Carl) Wheeliker, and his best friend, his boy “Andy”. John will be truly missed by his 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, John’s family; brothers, Marvin (Valerie), Clifford, Barry (Marlene), Tony (Brenda) and Tommy (Buskit) Pat McLean; sisters, Sandra (Billy) Cooke, Gail (Erwin) Hart, Geraldine (Greg) Sharp, Murtle.
Besides his parents John was predeceased by brothers, Blair, Sheldon and Francis; sisters, Margaret, Wilma; brothers in infancy, Wayne, Garland, Blanice, and also granddaughter, Maria May and great-grandson.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, May 8 for 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. in Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St, Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 9 at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Anglican Church Glace Bay.
