On Monday, May 27, 2019, while surrounded by family and friends, Paul MacDonald, age 60, of Howie Center went home to be with the Lord.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Bernard and Marge (Williams) MacDonald.
Paul devoted his life to serving his community and was always willing to help someone in need. He had strong faith and was actively involved in the ministry of his church. Paul graduated with a social work degree from the University of Calgary and earned his Master of Social Work from Dalhousie University. He was a member of the Nova Scotia Association of Social Workers since 1997, former board member of the police commission, and Transition House. Paul accompanied his wife on 2 Mission trips to Cuba and Played Music for inmates at Dorchester Prison in 2008.
Paul is survived by his wife, Melanie (Hall) MacDonald; sons, Travis (Amber) Mercredi-MacDonald, Cody (Guylaine) Ouellette; brother, Michael (Lisa); grandchildren, Aria and Violet; aunt, Sr. Carmelita MacDonald; sister-in-law, Anne MacDonald and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents Paul was predeceased by his brother, Danny.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 1, 2019 from 11-1 p.m. in the Harvest Community Church, Alexandra St., Sydney.
Funeral Service will follow in the Church at 1 p.m. with Pastor Bill Legge officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
Memorials may be made in Paul’s memory to the An Cala Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
