Maurice Bidart

We are sad to announce Maurice Renẽ Bidart of Sydney passed away on June 21, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital at the age of 105. Maurice was born to the late Bertram and Emma (LaLande) Bidart on March 22, 1914.
He was of Basque and French descent and lived his life in Cape Breton. Maurice was known for sharing his knowledge to whomever would accept it. He would fix or repair the simplest items to the most complex challenges. Maurice married the love of his life Ruth, and together they raised their family in Cape Breton. He had a profound sense of right and wrong and was guided by his Catholic religion. Maurice also served with RCEME in WW2 and had many stories to share. He lived a long life and was an inspiration to all.
Maurice is survived by sons, Geoffrey (Brenda), Stephen (Edith); grandchildren, Michelle (Brian), Brent (Caitlin), Anthony (Jessica), Renẽ, Aaron, Eric, Kelly (Chuck), Colleen (Camille), and great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Meghan, Wes and Reed.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth; daughters, Bonnie and Susan; son, Michael; brothers, sisters and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 25 at 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. both at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George St. with Fr. Bill Burke officiating.
