Glenda Harcourt

Born: August 9th, 1964

Passed in: Ashcroft, British Columbia, Canada
Passed on: July 24th, 2011

It is with tremendous sorrow and loss that I announce the passing of Glenda Harcourt, mother of David and Mark Readman, and wife and partner of Mike Readman.
Glenda battled bravely against a liver disease for over ten years. The disease got progressively worse over the last year resulting in Glenda going on the wait list for a liver transplant. She had periods where she was gravely ill over the past six months, but remained optimistic and battled hard to try and remain positive in the face of chronic pain and fatigue.
On a trip to Vancouver to meet with the Transplant Team at VGH this past weekend she became quite sick while over-night in Cache Creek. She was transported to the hospital in Ashcroft on Sunday morning and she passed away later that day.
Glenda leaves to mourn: her sons, David and Mark, and her husband Mike; her parents Betty and Wilf Harcourt of Kelvington, SK; her brother Dean Harcourt and wife Desi and their children Jordyn and Carson of Kipling, SK; her brother Jeff Harcourt of Peace River, AB; and her sister Tracy Harcourt of Swift Current, SK.
Glenda’s death is devastating to our family. She was the force behind every decision and every event that we took part in. Her will and determination were key to the success of her “three boys.” Mike’s pursuit of his teaching degree and decision to become a principal, and the boys’ success at school and in sports all derive from her positive encouragement and drive.
Even while battling her illness, Glenda seldom missed an opportunity to support David and Mark in their academic and athletic efforts. She worked quietly behind the scenes in hockey, baseball, and volleyball to the benefit of not only her boys, but to may others involved.
Glenda will be deeply missed by her many friends, past co-workers, and family.
Expressions of sympathy may be made by way of donation to the following: The Transplant Research Foundation of British Columbia (HYPERLINK www.trfbc.org) or Dawson Creek Minor Hockey (Scholarship Fund)
A funeral service was held at the South Peace United Church, 1300 – 104th Avenue, Dawson Creek , BC, at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 29th, 2011.
Arrangements in Dawson Creek are by Bergeron Funeral Services and in Ashcroft by Thompson Valley Funeral Home.
