DAKIN, Harriet Ruby – 83, of Annapolis Royal, formerly of Clementsport, passed away peacefully with her daughter Cindy and grandson Joel by her side on November 23, 2011, in palliative care, at the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home. Born in Beaver River, Yarmouth County, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Anna Belle (Pyne) Perry. She is survived by her loving family, son Cecil (Ruth) Dakin, Owen Sound, Ontario; daughter Cindy (Dean) Thibodeau, Hillsburn, N.S.; grandchildren, Gordon, Mark, Lisa, Craig and Joel; great grandchildren, Andrew and Mackenzie Cook; Lilly and Cayden Cox; sisters-in-laws, Dorothy and Merna Ellis; nearest and dearest family friend, Nancy. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred; son, Vernon; great grandchild, baby Craig Cook Jr.; 4 brothers and 4 sisters. In her younger years she was very much involved in things such as bowling, square-dancing, sewing circle and church activities. She was an excellent cook and loved to sew. Her cross-stitch pictures will forever be treasured by those of us who have them. We will always remember her “Birthday cakes”, they were the best! She very much enjoyed her “bingo” nights and relied on her faithful friends to pick her up, and thank you Rita for being that faithful friend to her. In the past few years she very much enjoyed attending Hillsburn Baptist Church and with the love she felt from the congregation, she felt truly blessed. For the last year she resided in the Florence Wolfe Wing of the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home where she found some peace and finally felt that she had a home again due to the loving and nurturing kindness of the entire staff, with nurses that go above and beyond. Funeral service was held November 26 in Hillsburn Baptist Church with interment at Maple Vista Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Annapolis Royal Nursing Home (Palliative Care) or the Autistic Society.
