SHANNON, CHARLES SINCLAIR “CHUCK” – Charles Sinclair Shannon, 69, Bridgewater, NS, passed away on January 5, 2012, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Son of the late Frank and Jean (Sinclair) Shannon, Chuck was born in Saint John, NB. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Loretta (Porter); daughters, Dr. Charlene Shannon (Stephen McCallum), Fredericton; Carletta Shannon (James Moody), Ottawa. He adored his granddaughters, Ariana and Hera Moody. A graduate of Acadia University and UNB Law School, Chuck was the initial in-house City Solicitor for the City of Fredericton. In 1990, his career took him to Riverview, NB as Town Manager. Eventually, he moved to Nova Scotia where he was Town Manager in Bridgewater and Chief Administrative Officer for the Municipality of the County of Kings until his retirement in 2003. He was enjoyed and appreciated by his colleagues. Despite a busy career, he was a devoted father and husband – weekends at swim meets, basketball with his girls in the back yard, family swims, dinner table conversations, going to the gym with Loretta each evening when they lived Kentville. “Pop” was always interested in “the babies” and loved talking with Ariana on the phone. At Ariana’s request, he waited until Christmas to open those presents.
Cremation has taken place. At Chuck’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Shore Regional Hospital or the Lung Association.
