Gates, Nellie Ruth (Robinson) – 85, of Berwick, formerly of Spryfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday February 26, 2012 in the Grand View Manor, Berwick with her family by her side. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late William and Florence (Marriott) Robinson. Nellie was a life time member of Emmanuel Anglican Church. She also was a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 152, Spryfield and currently was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 98, Kingston. Nellie was a very devoted wife and mother; and spent most of her working life as a home maker. She is survived by her son Kevin (Wendy) Gates, Yarmouth; daughter Florence (Bert) Power, Kingston; granddaughter Cindy Lynn, Kingston; step grandchildren Trina and Stephen; and five step great grandchildren; sisters June (Donnie) Strople, Spryfield; Bessie Snow, Spryfield. Besides her parents, Nellie was predeceased by her husband Wofford “Wally”; brothers Walter, Harold, Fred, Stan, Kenny, Roy, and sisters Margaret Langille, Alice Wright, and Annie Strople. Cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service held in Spryfield at a later date. Donations in Nellie’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or to a charity of choice.
