Joseph Yanchuk 1930 ~ 2007 Joseph Yanchuk of Kamloops passed away on November 25, 2007 at the age of 77 years. He is survived by his partner Vivian Hansberry; step-son Bob Clark of Chilliwack; his brothers Mathew (Margaret) Yanchuk of Kamloops, Nick (Peg) Yanchuk of Port Coquitlam, and John (Janet) Yanchuk of Kamloops; sisters Rose (Bill) Kazakoff of Surrey, Eunice (Jim) French of Burnaby; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, and many great friends whose company he enjoyed over the years. Predeceased by his wife Iris Yanchuk (nee Clarke), his parents Mary and Harry Yanchuk and nephew Daniel Kazakoff. Joe was born on April 19, 1930 in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan where he attended Edmore School until 1939 when he and his family moved to Vancouver, BC. There he attended Lord Selkirk Elementary and then John Oliver High where he excelled as the "Catcher" for the baseball team and also in soccer. From there, Joe went on to play Pro Baseball for two years as the "Catcher" for the Eugene Oregon team with his lifelong friend Ron Kurby (the Pitcher). Joe returned to Vancouver for seven more years and worked at both CP Transport and Skilling Bros. Transport. Along with some of his family, Joe moved to Kamloops in 1960 to become the new owners of the Franklin Hotel. Joe was the Manager for 15 years, meeting many more new friends. He carried on to work at the Kamloops Curling Club for nine years, then as Manager at the Kamloops Golf and Country Club for five years and finally, as Manager of the North Kamloops Curling Club until his retirement in 1998. Joe enjoyed and spent many, many great days on the golf course as well as at his (JOE FISH'S) cabin on the Little Shuswap Lake with many friends and relatives who will always remember the fun that was had by all!! A Celebration of Joe's life will take place at 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 1, 2007 at the Kamloops Curling Club, 700 Victoria Street.
