Adams, George Arnold – 93 of Berwick passed away June 9, 2012 at home. Born in Garland Kings Co., he was a son of the late James &Edith (Bezanson) Adams. George was a Veteran of WW II, serving in the RCAF. After the war he built and opened Adams Hardware in Berwick which he operated for 21 years. For 26 years George and his wife, Betty enjoyed spending their winters in Florida returning home every spring to "summer" in Nova Scotia. Both Betty and George were very involved in sports. George was a past member & director of Paragon Golf & Country Club; member of Berwick Heights Golf Club; member & charter of Berwick Lions Club; past president of Berwick Curling Club; a member of the Greenwood Flying Club; member of the Veterans Club and past member of Branch #69 Royal Canadian Legion, Berwick. He also served as a volunteer fireman in Berwick. He was inducted as a member to the Berwick Sports Hall of Fame. George is survived by his son: Brian (Kate), Burlington & daughter: Sharron Eisnor, Kentville; brother: Clifford, Berwick; sister: Jean (George) Annand, Iroquois Falls, Ontario; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. George was predeceased by his wife of 63 years Elizabeth "Betty" (Johnson); a daughter Deborah Ann Crocker; a 2 year old son Donald; brothers: Lloyd, Roy and Boyd; sisters: Blanche McLeod and Lou Dares. George's memorial service was held Thursday June 14 from the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home in Coldbrook with Rev. Marilyn Rose officiating. A eulogy of George's good works and accomplishments especially in the area of sports was spoken by long time friend Dale Lloyd and a musical offering of "Peace in the Valley" was sung by Valrie Blanchard, Kate Adams and Cathy Arsenault.
