Gregory Hugh Shakness, 42 of Westville Road, New Glasgow, passed away June 23, 2012.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of Earl and Diana (Betts) Shakness.
Greg was a resident of Westville Road for most of his life where he was an employee of Pictou County Glass.
He was an avid fisherman, loved to cook and spend time with family and friends.
Surviving besides his parents are a son, James, Westville; brothers, Robert (Kayla), Hopewell; Leo (Cathy), Salem; sisters, Dawn (Darin) Geddes, Westville; Karen (John) Megeney, Medicine Hat, Alberta; Kelly (David) Murray, Stellarton; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents John and Margaret Shakness, maternal grandparents Robert and Mary Betts and an uncle Hughie.
Cremation to take place. There will be no visitation by request.
A graveside committal service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Mount William Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Gregory may be made to the Pictou County SPCA.
