Kathleen A "Kate" Webb

WEBB, KATHLEEN A. “Kate” - 95, of Carr’s Brook passed away Friday, February 15, 2013 at Vimy Court in Bible Hill. Born in Wharton, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Rose May (Spicer) Bowden. She was a resident of Carr's Brook for sixty years where she and her husband Meart Webb raised three daughters, Jean Clish, Valley; Marilyn MacBurnie, Five Islands; Joyce Eagles, Carr's Brook; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, Meart in 2000; sisters, Estella, Lettie, Rita, Blanche, Roberta, Lena, Hilda; brothers, Hubert, Russell, Whitney. Education was very important to Kate. She often talked of walking through all kinds of weather to the Wharton School and receiving her Grade 11 by Provincial Examinations and Grade 12 from Parrsboro Regional High School. She attended Provincial Normal College and attained her teacher's license. While living in Carr's Brook, she worked side by side with her husband in all of his endeavors which included operating a service station, mixed farming, fishing, sawing logs and operating the local post office for many years. She very much enjoyed playing cards and scrabble, being very proficient at both. As her health deteriorated, Kate spent her later days at Vimy Court in Bible Hill where she received excellent care, for which her family are most appreciative. Visitation will be held 1-2 p.m. on Monday [February 18, 2013] at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., Rev. Greg Doyle officiating.
