Marie Edna Gallant (nee Dupuis)

Surrounded by her loving family, the death occurred peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, of Marie Gallant (nee Dupuis), beloved wife of the late Ben Gallant, of Oyster Bed Bridge, age 93 years.
She was born June 27, 1919, in Dover, N.B., the daughter of Tilmon Dupuis and Agnes LeBlanc.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Jeannette MacKenzie (Richard Brideau), Oyster Bed Bridge, Theresa Gallant (Norman), North Rustico, Paul (Marcella), Moncton, N.B., Charles (Nancy), Oakville, Ont., Donnie (Cathy), Airdrie, Alta., Edith Stevens (Peter), Charlottetown, Anne Marie Ellis (Wayne Darte), Charlottetown, and Reg, Fredericton, N.B.; daughters-in-law, Helen, Cornwall, Judy, Oyster Bed Bridge, and Audrey, Cymbria; 38 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Marie is also survived by her sisters, Edna Bourgeois (Arthur) and Anna Tougas; sisters-in-law, Ethel and Dorila Dupuis, and Argentine and Frances Gallant; many nieces and nephews; and her long-time friend, Mercedes Peters.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sons, Joseph (infancy), Roger, Benjamin and Bernard; her granddaughters, Barbara Jane MacKenzie (infancy) and Kelly Marie Gallant (infancy); her brothers and sisters, Alfred (Ida), Philippe (Hélène), Edouard (Jeanne), Aurèle (Alice), Henri (Evelyn), Camille (Léonie), Joseph, Marguerite Drisdelle (Julien) and Tilmon; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Lucien Tougas; Marie Adele Berthiaume (Edmund), Angeline Gallant, Angus Gallant, Joseph Gallant, Edna Doucette (Clarence), Cyrille Gallant and Rita Gallant.
A special thank you for the care Marie received at Beach Grove Home, and especially her friend and roommate, Mae Coffin.
Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, 2538 New Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, for visitation on Friday, May 17, 2013, 6-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, Rustico, Saturday, May 18, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. Interment in St. Augustine’s Cemetery. Due to severe allergies, please refrain from wearing scented products.
Flowers gratefully declined. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
