LAIRD- Donald Wilbert Earl Laird was born January 20, 1934 on the family farm at Blumenhof, Saskatchewan. Don passed away Monday, October 14, 2013 at the Shaunavon Hospital & Care Centre. Funeral Services were held Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from Salem Lutheran Church in Shaunavon with Pastor Joy Frenette officiating. Interment took place at Hillcrest Cemetery at Shaunavon. Binkley’s Funeral Service of Shaunavon (www.Binkleys.com) was in charge of the arrangements. Don attended Cedar Hill School in the Lac Pelletier District. He married Gloria Kvello June 11, 1957. They farmed in Glenside by Outlook, Saskatchewan for eight years. They moved to Shaunavon in December of 1965. Don worked as a journeyman heavy duty mechanic and as a grader operator for many municipalities. Don is survived by his wife Gloria, his daughters Pat of Saskatoon, Laurie of Eastend, and Sheila of Duchess, Alberta, his son Ward (Ginette) of Bruxelles, Manitoba; his grandchildren Jeff, Jason, Daria, Devon (Leah), Natasha, Gabriella, and great granddaughter Brittany; his sister Doris MacKenzie (Bob) of Nanaimo, B.C., brother Roy Laird (Marion) of Duncan, B.C., his sister Mabel Wall (Walter) of Saskatoon, Joan Hagstrom of Shaunavon, brother-in-law Ben Dyck of Swift Current, sisters-in-law Lee Kvello of Regina and Diane Kvello of Saskatoon and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Charles and Florence, sisters and brothers-in-law Pauline and Bert Cassidy, Norma and Allan Heyd, Hilda and Richard Knippshild; brother and sister-in-law Bill and Hazel Laird; sisters and brothers-in-law Ellen and Buck Relke, Marion and Palmer Ringdal, and Muriel Dyck; his brothers-in-law Ed Kvello and Dennis Kvello. Pallbearers were his grandchildren Jeff, Jason, Daria, Devon and his wife Leah, and Natasha. Donald was a very talented man and could fix almost any vehicle. He loved to putter in his shop fixing up old jeeps. He loved well and will be missed very much by his family.
