Passed in: Shelburne, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed on: July 10th, 2014

GOULDEN, Elsie, 91 of Roseway Manor, formerly of Shelburne left this world the way she lived, with peace and dignity. On Thursday, July 10, 2014, with great sorrow, we bade farewell to Elsie Annie Viola (Hamilton) Goulden. Born in Carleton Village she was the tenth child of fourteen of Les and Susan (MacKay) Hamilton. In her younger years she worked in the office at the fish plant in Carleton Village and at Cox’s Store in Shelburne. For 23 years she was Post Mistress of the Ingomar post office which she conducted from her home. She was a faithful attender of Ingomar Wesleyan Church until moving with her husband to Shelburne to be close to their daughter. Elsie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was her world. Her meals always tasted so delicious and when the grandchildren questioned why Nanny’s food was so good, they were told it was all the love she added to it. Elsie is survived by daughters Suzanne Grear (Wayne) and Sheila Doane (Burke); son-in-law, Barry Doane; grandchildren, Paul Boudreau (Heather), Shane Boudreau (Dawn), Melanie Grear (Darel), Matthew, Marina and Mark Doane; step-grandchildren, Bub Grear (Chasity) and Tanya Nickerson (Troy); great, grandchildren, Raya Boudreau, Adrian Crowell, Kayleigh and Koreigh Atkinson, Alexander and Elizabeth Doane; step-great grandchildren, Ryan, Kelly and Austin Grear and Cody Nickerson; brother, Alfred Hamilton and sisters Marjorie Cook and Jean Hamilton. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Barney, from whose death she never recovered; brothers, Russell, Archibald and Cecil; sisters, Ruth, Lillian, Clara, Beatrice, Mae, Hazel and Dorothy; granddaughter, Miranda Doane; great granddaughter, Karissa Boudreau and step-grandson, Alan Grear. Visitation was held on Sunday, July 13 from H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne where the funeral service was held on Monday with Pastor Cindy Dunnett officiating. Interment in Pleasant Plain Cemetery, North West Harbour. Memorial donations may be made to the Roseway Manor Foundation or Tri County VON.
