STELLARTON – Douglas Harcourt MacPherson, age 80, of Stellarton, passed away on August 11, 2014 in Kincardine, ON.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late George and Sarah (MacKenzie) MacPherson.
He received his education in the Stellarton schools and spent 13 years in the RCAF. He worked at Scott Maritimes Paper for 25 years from where he retired.
Doug enjoyed travelling and was also a member of several bands in the area including “Two’s Company.” He was also a piper and a member of the RCAF pipeband in Marville, France. Doug was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and also a member of the Keith Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by a son Carl (Brenda), Tiverton, ON; son-in-law George Dyson, Halls Harbour, NS; brothers, Wallace (Isabel) and Donald (Nora), Kelowna, BC; a sister-in-law Jean MacPherson, Westville.
Doug was predeceased by his wife Dora; a daughter Carla Dyson and a brother John (Jack) MacPherson.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel, Stellarton, with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating.
The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the Brookside Cemetery.
