Shirley Anne Baker

Born: August 4th, 1937

Passed in: Shelburne, Canada

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Shirley Anne Baker.
She was a proud Cape Bretoner, born in Baddeck on Aug. 4, 1937 to Chester and Annie Belle (nee Morrison) Mackay.
She is survived by her brother, Hughie; sister, Tena; daughter, Kelly, granddaughter Emily; son, Frank and grandson Evan.
She was predeceased by sisters, Lena, Mary and Dilly, as well as brothers, Angus, Everill, Sharkie, Layton, Kenny and Walter.
Although she travelled all across the country with her husband and children, her heart never strayed far from her true home. She was a wonderful mother, nana, and aunt to all that entered her life, sharing her amazing sense of humour, passion for music and incredible home style cooking with everyone she loved. Different people will remember her for different reasons; her work with the Lion’s Club, her voracious reading, or her never ending string of crossword puzzles, to name a few. That being said, the sight of her twinkling blue eyes and the sound of her wonderful laugh touched us deeply and will be remembered by all.
A special thank you goes to the Doctors and Nurses of Roseway Hospitall as well as the Yarmouth ICU Unit. They worked tirelessly and endlessly to make Mom`s final days as comfortable as possible. Their compassion eased both their pain and ours, something we will never forget.
As was her wish, cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Huskilson's Funeral Home, Shelburne and there will be no memorial service
