Murdock was born Oct. 13, 1938 and passed away Aug. 14, 2015, surrounded by treasured family and friends. Murdock went to that "land that is fairer than day".
Born in Wreck Cove, N.S., he was the son of Frank and Margaret Catherine (MacDermid) MacRae and was predeceased by brothers Ian MacDermid and Ian Kerr MacRae and sister-in-law Marge MacRae.
He and his wife of 52 years, Ruth were blessed with three children, Martin (Angela), Bryce(Elise) and Kimberly (Mike) and grandchildren Jacob, and Noah and Elijah, Devin, Tristan, and Owen and two great-grandchildren, Madison and Kaleb and a treasured son-in-law Mike Fahie.
Murdock, a graduate from Acadia University and the Presbyterian College in Montreal dedicated his entire 46 years of ministry to the Presbytery of Cape Breton. He was instrumental in establishing the Northside Community Guest Home, the North Sydney Food Bank, the Boys Brigade (North Sydney and Boularderie) and in the growth of Camp MacLeod.
He lived, He loved, He laughed, He labored.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 18 at St. Giles Church, Campbell Street, Ext., North Sydney from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service at St. Giles on Wednesday, Aug. 19 at 2 p.m. Reception following.
In lieu of flowers a donation could be made to either St. Giles Presbyterian Church, the Northside Food Bank or a charity of your choice.
