It is with broken hearts that we, the family, regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Cindy (Curran) Steele. She died peacefully in Thunder Bay, Ont. on Oct. 28, 2015.
She was formerly a proud resident of Sydney, N.S., prior to relocating to Fort Francis, Ont., where she resided at the time of her passing.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, John Steele and their three daughters, Ashley (Kris Smith), Alicia (Bassam Alhusayni) and Hayley Steele; her precious granddaughter, Ashantay Stele; brother, Thomas (Susan) Curran; nephews, Josh, Mark, Dylan Curran; brothers, Jason and Mitchell Curran; sister, Dale (Dorel) Marioane; niece, Gianna Marioane; nephew, Matteo Marioane; sister, Linda (Ed) MacRae; niece, Laura MacRae and uncle, Will Curran.
Cindy was born on March 3, 1960 in Toronto, Ont. to her predeceased parents, Thomas Curran and Marie (Hurley) Kauffman. She grew up in Whitney Pier, Sydney and although she relocated, her heart always remained in Cape Breton, her home. Her dedication to advocating for the environmental rights of the residents of Whitney Pier, was clearly her passion.
A funeral and reception will be scheduled at a later date. All will be welcome to attend and celebrate Cindy's life.
Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the SPCA, as her love for animals was clear to anyone who knew her.
