WILLIAMS, Carl Floyd, age 90 of Lockeport, passed away peacefully in Surf Lodge Nursing Home on Saturday, December 19, 2015. Born on January 2, 1925 in Lockeport where he grew up and spent most of his life. He was the fifth child of seven born to the late Joseph Samuel and Ellen Grace Williams. Like many young men at the time, Dad enlisted his services to the war effort before his eighteenth birthday. During the Second World War Dad served three years overseas with the West Nova Scotia Regiment in Italy, France, Holland, Germany, North Africa and Belgium. He returned to Halifax in 1945 and studied auto mechanics at Nova Scotia Vocational School. He spent his working career at Scotia Chev-Olds, Purdy Motors, Ben’s Limited and Cummins Diesel. He was a member of Legion Branch #80, Lockeport. Carl is survived by his children Floyd (Sandra) Yarmouth; Lawrence (Judy) Milford Station; Darrell (Josanne) Hardwoodlands; Joseph (Michelle) Newport Corner; Ellen Murphy, Halifax; Joy Marryatt (Reg) Harrietsfield; Virginia (Ginny) Aston (Bob) Brisbane, Australia; many grandchildren; great grand-children and great-great-grandchildren; his sister Charlotte Grovestine, Shelburne; brother Alfred Garfield, Shelburne. Carl was pre-deceased by his loving wife Margaret Jean (Boutilier); sisters Stella Belong, Bethalia Richerson; Alina Thomas; brother Owen Larkin and best friend JoAnn; grandson Andrew Murphy. In honor of Carl's personal wishes there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held Monday, December 28, 2015 at 11:00 am at Holy Cross Anglican Church, Lockeport. Burial to follow in Lockeport Cemetary. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Surf Lodge for their constant attention and care over the past four years.
